Brief                      The class starts with a thorough discussion of the system block diagram of an EBI System. All components of the system are discussed to a functional level. The class covers the basics of the Windows Operating System. 

The class first discusses EBI System Basics. This includes EBI system startup, sign on, working with the station windows, using the pointing devices, entering commands, displays, calling a Web Page, display objects, alarm messages, point parameters, controlling points, searching for system items, scanning and getting help from the system.

EBI uses an elaborate system of displays. There are several types of displays. The class does not address display building but shows how to work with the displays, e.g., how to find displays, their locations, how to call them and how to use the controls on them. There is also a brief discussion of the tools used to create various displays.

The concept of system security is introduced. The available security systems are exemplified. This includes a discussion of operator levels and control levels of points. It is explained that this is a supervisory function and generally not available to the daily system user/operator.

XLNET Time programs are presented next as items under Building Management. This leads to discussion of a Point Control Schedule. A point control schedule is a  program that runs in the EBI Server and not the down line processors. And it can control point attributes and not just point status or value, a concept quite revolutionary and can have tremendous potential uses. This feature is also misunderstood and misapplied. The class will clarify it completely and lead to the mastery of the tool.

There is a thorough discussion of Alarm and Event Management.

Basic Standard Report types are discussed, configured and are followed by actual requesting and calling thereof. Advanced reports are not covered. See EBI2101b for more information.

The class also includes a full discussion of the EBI Message and Mail System. The class also includes every mode of point data access and displaying all point details such as point history. Group detail and trend set displays are elaborated and worked with. 

                                Written exercises are used to reinforce the learning process.
